Standing Shoulder to Shoulder
What can God accomplish when His people stop standing apart and begin standing shoulder to shoulder?
In this powerful message from our Unity series, we look to the rebuilding of the wall in Nehemiah, where God’s people rose together—each family, each worker, each section—faithfully doing their part. From the priests to the daughters, from those who built to those who guarded, the work moved forward because the people were united in purpose and committed to the call (Nehemiah 2:17–18; 3; 4:6, 17).
Scripture reminds us that the body of Christ cannot function in isolation. “But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him” (1 Corinthians 12:18). Unity requires faithfulness, humility, and a willingness to serve where God has placed us (1 Corinthians 4:2; James 4:17). When we labor together, encourage one another, and refuse to grow weary in well doing, God brings the increase (Galatians 6:9).
This sermon calls us to answer the same question Isaiah heard from the Lord: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?”—and to respond together, “Here am I; send me” (Isaiah 6:8). Because where brethren dwell together in unity, God commands the blessing (Psalm 133:1).
Join us as we discover what it means to stand united, serve faithfully, and build God’s work—shoulder to shoulder.
